I've been getting increasing spam registrations. I have set registration to Admin approval and first post approval so the spammers can't post, the only effect is that the membership list have lots of inactive members which have to be deleted. It's time-consuming to weed out the genuine registrations from the rest. The spammers always complete the box "Reason for wanting membership" with rubbish so I can identify them but it takes time. They always have different email and IP addresses. Some time ago I banned the head IP code for Russia and China which worked well, but I didn't realise that the code for Russia also includes parts of Europe where we have genuine members.
I have three Q&A questions which could not be answered by a Russian so I think the spammers must be bypassing the Q&A questions.
Apart from closing down the forum, how can I stop the spammers registering?
